Welcome to the world of wooden block printing.

This traditional art originating from India, particularly from the Rajasthan region, is not limited to printing a wooden block on fabric. We have designed and developed various blocks with the help of extremely talented Indian artisans who hand-carved these magnificent pieces. The harmony of shapes, colors and fabrics is found in this workshop that we offer you. At the end of this workshop, you will leave with a block-printed fabric that you designed yourself.

What will you learn in our initiation course?

  • The history of block printing.
  • Wooden block maintenance.
  • Learn to apply color, pressure and align blocks.
  • Printing on a fabric of your choice (tote bag, napkin).
  • How to care for the fabric after printing.

The advanced block printing course

What will you learn in our advanced block printing course?

  • Learn advanced block printing techniques, such as border alignment, using repetitive patterns and layered printing. Practice on the practice fabric first.
  • When you feel confident, you will move on to more ambitious projects, such as scarves, tote bags or cushion covers.
  • We will also learn to use wooden blocks to print on paper and carry out various activities related to paper printing.

What's included?

  • Paper and fabric to print (choice of tissues, envelopes, table runner, tea towel, cushion cover).
  • Practice fabric (try your pattern and blocks on the practice fabric first).
  • Large selection of blocks to choose from.
  • Fabric colors, padded mat, sponge, etc.
  • Refreshments such as tea, coffee and cakes will be provided.

The studio session (self-taught)

Only guests who have already attended an initiation course or an advanced block printing course will be allowed to participate in the studio session to practice on their own.

What's included?

  • A vast selection of blocks.
  • Bring your own fabric/paper on which you want to print or you can buy fabric/paper from us to print.
  • Space and equipment available to practice your block prints.
  • During the studio session, you will be responsible for cleaning your desk at the end of the printing session and washing the paint trays, sponges and printing blocks you used.

Note: Space available for a maximum of 5 people.
